Here are some helpful answers to the questions I get asked the most! Always feel free to text, call, or email if you have additional questions (please note: during business hours I am usually teaching but will return all voicemails in the evening- text is always the best way to reach me for a quick answer)
I have planned some excellent Art lessons and quality projects that I am excited to teach your kids! All Studio Classes and Camps are small group and we have an abundance of art supplies, clay tools, and paint brushes for each student to use. You will not need to purchase any supplies as they will be provided for your child in class, this way we can use some really cool Art stuff and you don't have to worry about going out to find the supplies only to find them out of stock.
PLEASE dress your child to be creative (an oversized t-shirt, apron, or favorite art clothes work great!) We use high quality acrylic paints that do not easily wash out of clothes. The trade off is we make some very cool and wall worthy Art! Kids are kids, they make a mess, and you will be grateful they are making it in our space and not at your dining room table. Students are able to dry their paintings at the dry stations so they can take them home at the end of class!
I have been teaching multi-age Art classes for over 20 years in schools, Camps, Art Studios, and also for the Pro-Golfer kids on the PGA tour and absolutely love it! I have learned the Art of personalizing my instruction to creatively challenge each student to help them grow with age-appropriate art techniques in a fun, engaging, and educational learning environment. Each lesson has been carefully planned and the students are always excited about what we are creating! Many of my Art families have siblings that like to attend classes together, so it really is ok for a 6 and 9 year old to be in the same class as they will both make amazing Art on the level they are currently at (we have Sculpture blocks, drawing, craft centers, and pattern puzzles available for those that finish early to keep them busy while others are still creating!) Classes are process based so students are able to explore using different Art materials and I intertwine these learning moments with educational lessons and class demonstrations so the kids can understand the concepts of each work of Art they are making. It is important that all Students are able to follow class instructions, work independently, and respect the art space and projects of others. That being said, if your child loves Art, I hope to see them in the Studio for a class!
We follow the 5 Core Standards for Health & Safety as set forth by the Knox County Health Dept. The Art Studio has its own sink for frequent handwashing and uses an air purifier with HEPA filter. If your child is sick, we ask that you please do not bring them to class to help keep everyone healthy.
Due to limited seating in classes and Art supplies for your child being purchased and prepared in advance, any changes or cancellations must be made 2 weeks in advance of your booked Event. For last minute cancellations, please contact me and I am happy to provide your child with an Art kit they can do at home or you are welcome to sell or gift your seat to a friend if your child is unable to attend.
If the Studio cannot operate for any reason, a refund for the unused class tuition paid will be applied.
In the rare event that only 2 or 3 students sign up for a class, it will still go on! I have set aside this time to enrich the lives of the Kids in our Community so it is my pleasure to be able to share my knowledge, collection of creative Art materials, and inspiring lessons with your children, whether it be a few students in a class or more. We always have a fun, creative time and I am so happy that your child has a passion for Art and am excited to be a part of their amazing journey!
