"Miss Shelley is the BEST teacher EVER!!"
-Carson (age 8) |
Shelley Lapham-Pastore (aka: Miss Shelley, the name her students gave her in 2004 as it's much easier to remember and pronounce than her last name) is a professional Artist and Preschool/Elementary Art Educator who enjoys teaching Art to kids of all ages! Her students enjoy the freedom to explore and create with color as they paint on canvas and wood, sculpt with clay, create jewelry, crafts, and slime in a kid friendly learning environment under the positive guidance of a caring Instructor. Her Creative Art classes, Summer Art Camps, and Art Parties have inspired children at the Charlotte Art League, Smart Toys & Books, Blue Grass & AL Lotts Elementary Schools, Park Road Montessori, York Prep Academy, the YMCA of Greater Charlotte & East Tennessee, Michael's Art & Crafts, several Art Studios in NC, SC, & TN, and she has taught Art to the pro-golfers kids on the PGA Tour. She has also been a regular featured Artist on the ABC News/WATE 6 Living East Tennessee TV show, inspiring kids to be creative and for many years helped thousands of families find fun and local things to do as the Publisher and Editor of Macaroni Kid Knoxville.
Shelley has enjoyed all things Art since she young. She would spend hours on her sun patio creating, painting, and inventing new ways to be creative! During college she studied Music and Elementary Education and then later returned to add Theatre Arts Design and Studio Arts (drawing, painting, clay, & sculpture). Shelley has also studied other forms of Art under professional Artists (glass fusing, mixed media, jewelry design, and mosaics) and enjoys traveling to other countries to attend Theatre and Art Festivals. Her favorite places she has studied Art are Venice & Rome in Italy, South France, Hawaii, Belize, and Disney World! In Knoxville, Shelley enjoys working behind the scenes on set designs and props with local theatre productions at the Knoxville Opera, Tennessee Theatre, Bijou, and Bearden High Theatre. In August 2020, Shelley was scheduled to perform and design costuming for several world premiere productions in Scotland at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (sadly the festival was cancelled due to Covid, but will return one day!) Shelley truly loves all things related to Art and Theatre and enjoys passing on her creative knowledge to her students to help inspire them to be their best and stay creative always! |
